Overview

This course will give you an introduction to a career in the Events Industry. It covers a wide range of general events, business and specific industry-related topics to develop your knowledge and skills in events planning. The events industry is a diverse and exciting one, offering many areas for employment, across the UK and the world. Much of the course is about planning for events covering the theory aspects. There are also practical elements within the course.

One of our core values as lecturers and industry experts are to support you as an individual to flourish as a student.

This course will be interactive using a variety of methods to ensure your learning and progression needs are met. Units are lecturer led, however, we fully encourage you to take ownership of your own learning.

Entry requirements

Minimum entry requirements

  • One National 5 qualification at Grade C or above AND three National 4 qualifications including English and Mathematics; OR
  • Other equivalent qualifications or experience.

After the course

Careers

This course will allow you to pursue a career in the Events Industry, such as events assistant, or administrator with an events company.

Continuing Study

You can apply for the Level 6 Events course, HNC Events, HND Events Management, HNC/D Business, or HNC/D Hospitality.

Teaching

How the course is taught

The course is delivered over a 1 year period. The Units are divided into three 12 week blocks. There is a blend of theory and practical within the course.

Assessment methods

Assessments can be class or home based within the course, in addition some are theory and some are of a practical nature. On some occasions you are permitted to bring a page of notes into the assessments

Additional Information

Dress code

You will be provided with a uniform for the food service elements of the course. You will also be expected to dress appropriately when you are supporting events, both within the Contributing to an Event Unit as well as the Event Organisation Unit.
