Super College centre of excellence in CIPS

CoGC Faculty of Business

City of Glasgow College has been awarded CIPS (Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply) Centre of Excellence for the fourteenth consecutive year.

The Centre of Excellence for 2018-2019 was awarded following an external audit which commended the college on the continued great work it is doing with the CIPS programme.

Alan MacDonald, Senior Lecturer in Supply Chain Management at City of Glasgow College, said:

“Gaining Centre of Excellence status once more is fantastic and it is thanks to the sheer hard work, commitment and enthusiasm of our Business & Procurement team. It is not an achievement that we take for granted as we regularly amend and update our courses to reflect current trends and practices within the procurement and supply chain industries.”

CIPS is the leading voice of the procurement and supply profession and the largest with a global community of over 200,000 in 150 countries. It sets the standards for the profession and is the only regulated body in the world to promote a Code of Conduct which has become the international model for purchasing and supply practice.

Procurement and supply offers widely varied careers which can include sourcing goods from local suppliers to running global supply chains; and buying essential services and resources at right price in today’s challenging economic environment can make or break a business. A wide variety of skills are required from good business sense, financial management, and a flair for communication and negotiation.
