Super College Wins European Excellence Prize

City of Glasgow College has taken the title for Sustaining Outstanding Results at this year’s European Foundation for Quality Management (EFQM) Excellence Awards.

The college is one of only three UK institutions to be shortlisted in these prestigious international awards which celebrate Europe's best performing organisations.

City of Glasgow College Principal and Chief Executive, Paul Little, said:

“We are absolutely delighted with this win. It reflects the dedication and ambition of our staff - Team City - who never stand still in their drive towards excellence.

“To be recognised for Sustaining Outstanding Results just a year after receiving 5 Star EFQM Recognised for Excellence is indeed a resounding endorsement of the positive approach our College takes.

“The EFQM Excellence Model challenges us to continually ask how we can improve what we do and encourages staff, students and stakeholders to collaborate and innovate to reach our shared purpose – to Let Learning Flourish.”

Léon Tossaint, Chief Executive Officer of EFQM commented:

“City of Glasgow College is the global leader for maritime education. A characteristic of the College is its top level commitment and understanding of excellence but also a close relationship with its students. The EEA Jury was impressed by the strong orientation to results driven by priorities, aims and targets. Well done.”

The EFQM Excellence Awards are described as "like playing in the Champions League" because of their very rigorous assessment process. To win, an applicant must show that their performance not only exceeds that of their peers, but also that they will maintain this advantage into the future.

The prize winner demonstrates role model behaviour which other organisations can learn from in their drive to achieving excellence.
