The SQA is an executive non-departmental public body (NDPB) sponsored by the Scottish Government Schools Directorate. It is the national body in Scotland responsible for the development, accreditation, assessment and certification of qualifications other than degrees. Its functions are set out in the Education Act 1996 (Scotland) as amended by the Scottish Qualifications Act 2002. The overall aim of the SQA is to manage the qualifications system below degree level to allow students to fulfil their potential to participate in the economy, society and communities of Scotland.

Most of our National Certificates (NC), Higher National Certificates (HNC), Higher National Diplomas (HND) and Professional Development Awards are accredited by the SQA. Review our courses to find out more.
